You might consider signing your child up for the Special Services Program if:
- he is working more than two years below grade level,
- you believe it will help your child in the future with accommodations or modifications,
- you need extra help designing a curriculum for your child.
Families can register students for the Basic Special Services Program when they enroll/re-enroll in MODG. Parents will meet with the consultant and discuss all the options in order to determine the best level for the child. Additional levels of support are explained here.
Signing up in Special Services provides an important paper trail for college-bound students if accommodations and help in testing are needed. In order to qualify for accommodations on the SAT or ACT, a student must demonstrate a history of accommodations. Enrolling in the Special Services Program provides that history. In addition, signing up for Special Services provides parents with additional resources and job aids, as well as extra help in the Teacher Services Program. Your consultant is available to answer any questions about whether extra levels of service are needed.
Signing up in Special Services allows your consultant to work closely with a Special Services consultant in order to devise and implement a successful program for your child.
