A Learning Support Cohort consists of a group of students who take the same classes together each week. Additionally, the students benefit by having a central grader across all subjects with whom they meet weekly to work on writing assignments. Because these writing coaches see the students' work for all subjects in the Cohort, they are able to offer unified suggestions and advice across all subjects.
MODG offers two different kinds of Cohorts in LS. One is the Freshman Cohort, which includes US History, Earth Science, and Faith & Morality. They meet three times a week. The second type is the Special Services Learning Support Cohort. The students have a different cohort for each grade in high school, and they have History, Science, English, and Religion in the Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years. In Senior year, they drop Science and replace it with a semester of Health and a semester of PE.
